Das Karpaltunnelsyndrom
Wir sind nicht nur auf die Behandlung von Sportunfällen spezialisiert. Auch geplante Eingriffe aus anderen Bereichen der Medizin werden bei uns durchgeführt. Als eines der häufigsten Beispiele für Operationen dieser Art stellen wir Ihnen die Sanierung des sogenannten Karpaltunnelsyndroms vor.
Dies ist das häufigste Nervenkompressionssyndrom. Die Beschwerden können kurzfristig oder chronisch sein. Ursachen können z. B. sein: Verletzungen, Entzündungen, Zerrungen des Handgelenkes, ständige Belastungen durch Arbeit oder Sport, altersbedingte Veränderungen, reumatische Erkrankungen, Geschwülste, Diabetes, Dialyse oder Übergewicht. Durch die Schwellung der Beugesehnenscheide entsteht ein Druckanstieg im Karpaltunnel und somit das Karpaltunnelsyndrom.
Die Symptome kündigen sich häufig durch Kribbeln, Taubheit und Schmerzen vom Finger bis hin zur Schulter/ Nacken an. Nach einer Druckentlastung (Spaltung des Karpaltunnels) sind die Schmerzen und Gefühlsstörungen normalerweise vollständig beseitigt.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the most frequent nervous compression syndrome. Complaints can occur suddenly or they can be chronic. They can arise out of numerous reasons such as injuries, sprains of the wrist joint, overuse due to work or due to sports, alterations due to age, rheumatism or diabetes. It may even occur because of overweight. Due to swelling of neighbouring muscular tendons pressure inside, the carpal tunnel rises and compresses the nerve. Symptoms can be a numb feeling and 'pins and needles' feeling respectively. Pain can occur from the fingers up to the shoulder and neck. The surgical procedure is simple: pressure is released and pain will disappear.
